We are very pleased and proud to announce that Mrs Jadwiga Brzozo, a long-standing member and president of the Kowalanki Rural Housewives of Nowiny Municipality, has been honored with the Starosta Kielce Prize for outstanding achievements in artistic production, dissemination and protection of culture.
Known as the Great Lady of Tradition, Lady Jadwiga has been passionate about the cultural heritage of the Świętokrzyskie region for over 60 years. For 40 years, he has been head of the “Kowalanki” Ceremony Team, creating folk performances, original scripts, songs, songs and songs, as well as designing unique harvest wreaths. Thanks to her work, the traditions and customs of our small homeland are still alive and close to other generations.
Its activities are not only art, but above all the mission of building a community and maintaining a local identity. She is the initiator of the establishment of the Regional Memorial Chamber in Kowali, organizes handicraft workshops, conducts classes for children and young people, and acts charitablely for the local community.
Under its direction “Kowalanki” from the municipality of Nowiny gained nationwide recognition, performing among others at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw and winning awards in folklore competitions. Their history and achievements were recorded in the monograph “In the Great Circle of Life” and the film “In the Circle of Life”.
The extraordinary energy, cordiality and devotion of Lady Jadwiga make her not only a leader, but also an inspiration for all who are close to folk culture and work for the local community.
The Starosta Kielce Award is an expression of highest recognition for a person who has been building a bridge between the past and the future for decades. Thanks to it, the culture of Nowiny municipality region continues, develops and delights.
