On Saturday, August 23, the inhabitants of Nowiny commune crowdedly met in Szewce to celebrate the end of this year's harvest. After seven years of harvest, they returned to our community, becoming a unique opportunity to cultivate traditions, integrate residents and have fun with whole families.
Tradition and thanks to farmers
Uroczystości rozpoczęły się o godzinie 15:00 mszą świętą w kaplicy w Szewcach, po której odbył się tradycyjny obrzęd dożynkowy. Wójt gminy Nowiny, Łukasz Gryń, podkreślił, jak ważne jest pielęgnowanie rolniczych tradycji, nawet w gminie kojarzonej głównie z przemysłem:
– Dla nas to wielka radość. Cieszymy się, że wspólnie spędzamy czas, celebrujemy podsumowanie żniw. Spotkaliśmy się w Szewcach, by w wyjątkowy sposób powrócić do tradycji dożynek. Choć Nowiny są kojarzone jako gmina przemysłowa, to wbrew pozorom są u nas też rolnicy. Choćby było ich niewielu, to tradycję trzeba pielęgnować; to historia naszej ziemi – zaznacza wójt gminy.
The words of gratitude to farmers were also received from invited guests: Marshal of Renata Janik Voivodeship and Vice-Statist of Kielce Tomasz Duszny, who emphasized the enormous work on the field and the need to support hosts in daily challenges.
Artistic performances and attractions for whole families
From the hour 16:30 the scene belonged to local artists. The audience could admire the performances "Szewczanki" singing band, People's Group ‘Bolechowiczanie’, ‘Kowalanki’ ceremonial groupand Nowiny Dense Orchestra and Nowinya Choir. The colourful performances, music and singing brought everyone into a unique, harvest climate.
A recreational area was also waiting for participants in the square at the village common room. The youngest used dandelions, carousels and animations, and adults were happy to visit food and shopping stands, where you could try regional specialties, homemade pastries and watch the handiwork of local artists.
One of the greatest attractions of the event was the possibility of flying a helicopter. Tickets enjoyed great interest, and five lucky players in the competition could benefit from a free flight.
Joyful Festival of the whole municipality
The harvest festival in Szewce was not only an opportunity to thank farmers for their hard work, but also a beautiful moment of spending time together. Family atmosphere, rich artistic program and numerous attractions made each participant find something for himself.
